Due to the change in the ship's itinerary, we were at
sea the next two days. Actually, we were glad to have
the free time. The sea was very rough on Wednesday with
high winds and twelve-foot swells. Thursday was a little
better. I had brought my Eee-pad and intended to work on some writing and editing projects I'd brought along. Unfortunately, even though I had three different word processing apps, none of them would work with my .doc files. I also had downloaded a few books and wound up using my Eee-pad as a Kindle for reading. Jane had her Kindle along, and we both did a lot of reading on the cruise. I got to the gym on Wednesday. Dinner that evening was formal, and we went to the show afterwards (comedian). That night we set our clocks back an hour as we sailed west (1st of 6 hours gained). Thursday Jane bought a jacket onboard, and we went to a lecture on Dublin. Around 4:00 p.m. we began seeing scattered land to the south, probably part of the Orkney Islands. While we were at dinner, the ship turned south and passed between Scotland and Northern Ireland. After dinner, we saw a full performance (10 minutes) by the acrobat in the Piazza. His strength and muscular control were remarkable. He was followed by a string quartet. About 9:45 p.m. the ship arrived in Grenock, the port city for Glasgow. Some passengers went ashore, but it was too late for us.
